Cerro Chato Lagoon

Cerro Chato Lagoon

The smaller Cerro Chato Volcano is actually an older brother, living in the shadow of his boisterous younger brother Arenal. It is a truncated volcanic cone rising to 1,140 meters. It has had no registered volcanic activity for the past 3,500 years, about the time when Arenal was just beginning its birth. Just about 3 kilometers from Americas Paradise Center you will find the Cerro Chato Lagoon. During the two hours hiking up to the top, you may see different species of birds, monkeys, sloth, frogs and others. The path to the top has blue signs and it is easy to follow.
